batman forever

ok what can i say about the 3rd installment?? it really says alot about itself in the opening credits which is quite flat and lame but then cue to our first glimpses of batman - it becomes really promising. a new slick and high gloss costume and new and slightly colourful new bat mobile - but what are the first words to come out of his mouth..."i'll get drive thru" you know then and there somethings not quite right. Cut to the opening shot of gotham city bathed in bright neon lights, (ok)...then we see two face..omg im not sure who to be more ashamed of jim carrey or tommy lee jones over the top performances they just screams camp factor warp 10.

now we all know the score - its all joel Schumacher's fault... he made it too kid friendly, he put bat nipples on the suit, he hired nicole kidman to play the love interest. now although he is guilty of all 3, those to blame really are the producers for going in this direction intentionally. The original purpose of the batman films was to go in a more serious darker direction, forget the high camp 60's show. but it just goes to show youhow durable this character is with a new movie coming out, hes still as popular as ever even when hes being constantly meddled with by execs and producers who know nothing about the myth and the character and just want to exploit the next biggest thing to make a profit

6/10 - nice visuals especially with batman falling or gliding - the score is not worthy of danny elfman (the problem is too much brass not enough strings) also you know they are heavily marketing this for kids i remember the maccas drinking mugs and toys which explains the new silver suit
