i have to say i really dig vaughns writing - he understands the underlying cynisim of american society so well- he creates believeable andsurprisingly likeable characters in dire and sometimes bleak surcumstances - wer introduced to mr hundred. a civil servant who was accidentally (or was he) exposed to a strange device at the bottom of brooklyn bridge where the left side of his face was blown away - cut to 2002 and hes a mayor who can speak to machines. people think he's an alien and he used to be a flying heroe by the name of the great machine - i have to say this is the most unconventional superhero read i have ever had the pleasure of reading - its funny at this stage in my life that all these books that i heave heard of i only find interesting now?? and this book is also georgeous to look at!!!
8/10 - gonna get the rest of the series coz its that good
