I don't know if I should bother writing a review about this film as all it would do is make Arn salivate at the thought of 'how adorable' Scarlett is in it! (well, she is hot in this - and I'm NOT a lesbian OK!!!)
I think they had a clever idea for this film but it was too 'easy' and 'lacking excitement'. Based in the not too distant future, it's about clones, who do not realise they are clones. They are genetically generated, brainwashed and confined in a closed and 'positive' environment, unaware of the outside world… They are told that they are survivors of a mass world contamination, and that is why they are 'confined'. There is a 'Lottery', where the winning prize is to live on the 'Island', the only surviving natural Island in existence. This is meant to give them 'purpose'.
We later discover that these clones are clones of filthy rich people, and if they get sick, they have their own body parts and organs to harvest from their clone if in case they need to. Every time a clone wins the 'Lottery', it means that their 'real human counterpart' is sick and needs their relative organs to transplant.
One of the 'clones' starts realising all the suspect nature of their surroundings, and he (McGregor) then discovers the truth and takes his good 'cone friend (Johansson) to escape.
They escape to the outside world, and for the first time see what the world is, and try to adapt. They find Ewan's 'human' and tries to exploit this cloning conspiracy… After some chasing and stuff, they finally expose the truth to the rest of the clones, who then escape.
It's just not thrilling enough. Borderline cheesy in some scenes…
Oh, and you can SO TELL it's a Michael Bay film… Which is good that he has his distinct signatures I guess… He loves fast action scenes with some slow mo... Also very bright and clear colours. Almost photoshop looking...
6/10
