Sicko - Jo

Yet another Michael Moore film… I wasn't insistent in watching this, but we (my bro and cousin) decided to watch anyways.
It was a really cool doco! It had humour and the usual touching stories…
It was about the fact that USA does not have a socialised health system, and the general public can only access private health insurance. Not only that, their medicine and medical bills in general are outrageous! Not only that, most private health insurers get paid extra commission, the more claims they deny… CRAZY?!
As usual, Moore had amazing examples and sap stories proving that America are backwards in all things health. If you do not have proper HMO, or cannot pay your medical bills, you could be denied life saving medical operations and procedures.
Even Cuba's health system was easier to access!
This film also made me want to move to either Britain or France.

Here is a list of some of the reasons why France RULES:
- Maximum standard full time working week: 35 hours
- Minimum annual leave: 5 weeks
- 1 extra week annual leave if you are on your honeymoon
- 1 extra day annual leave if you need to move house
- A FREE government issued nanny to stay with you for 1 year if you are a first time mother to help around the house (!?)
- Despite being heavy smokers and wine drinkers, live longer lives than many western countries (including USA)
- Very high productivity despite low work hours
- Very family orientated
- Very insistent in taking vacations and holidays
- French people are healthy, happy and stress free
One cool quote that was said in this doco by some British scholar: The French Government are scared of their people, hence listen to them. The American people are scared of their Government, hence are controlled by them…
Worth a watch!
8/10
