i really got this movie soley on the scene in the train station where they have the massive shoot out and the pram is bounding down the stairs which has been mocked quite effectively in naked gun. this however is nothing more than a glorified political/cop movie with gradeoso action scenes that really amp up a simple frustrating story about a federal agent who wanted to take down al capone and up hold prohibition.
although it has all the hall marks of a de plamer film (sweeping camera moves high gloss look of the 80's and gratuitous violence) and was a substantial hit for its time with a then unknown costner, im not sure that it deserved the acclaim that it has enjoyed.
6/10 - terrific behind the scenes footage and interviews about a then struggling brian de plamer trying to cope with 2 failed movies and wanting to make a film that was bankable for a studio.
